Name: Association of craftsmen Ichimay Wari
Location: District of Lurín, 40 km to the south of Lima
Products: Decorative and utility ceramics, retables, paper ayacuchanos, sculpture out of wood.

Mr. Emiliano Orellana counts that all the partners of Ichimay Wari who are ayacuchanos, the majority are of Quinua, they arrived in various circumstances and at various places of Lima. He lived en Chorrillos and they worked with several compatriots since 1979 and 1980. They obtained grounds in Lurin which the Municipality offered at reasonable prices, they bought the grounds and between 8 to 10 people were going every Sunday to work in task to entitle the grounds, between 1984 and 1985 they were brought to live in this zone.
During this time Juan Nolasco tells that it went in Ayacucho and started to work as gardener in the airport, in 1986 he knew one of his compatriots who worked in Raymisa in Lurin it is him which invited it to take share with the sporting plays and little by little they were gathered with the other compatriots. There was much abuse the companies of the intermediaries this why they realized that only they could not advance, to the beginning they formed a small group called "Pasaq". In March 1999 one gathered more craftsmen until arriving at 25 and they named a coordinator, they knew the Raymisa experiments and of Tawaq, there was a debate to choose the name of the group, some thought of continuing with the preceding name and others proposed to put another name, they chose the combination of two names, that of "Ichimas" because they were also the former inhabitants of Lurin and because the name of Ichimay-Wari is the name quechua the slips naturally and of "Wari" for the origin of the majority of the partners remaining, therefore certain craftsmen had to be withdrawn because they belonged to another Association, in June 1999 one legally constituted Association. They knew CIAP during meetings at the time of the visit of representatives of IFAT in Lima at the end of the year 2000. The assembly of CIAP where they were allowed as partners was very broken because some groups were opposed to their receipt by problems of competition.

Organization

They currently have 15 partners; each one of them is a family workshop of the specialities ceramics, fabrics, retables and sculpture of wood. There are two general assemblies per annum and extraordinary meetings of all the partners every 15 days. They have the directing Council composed of nine members and they meet when the circumstances require it, the duration of the directing Council is two years. In the meetings they submit the reports/ratios, the assessments, the planning and the follow-up of the activities.

Production and commercialisation

The samples are made by all the partners and each one proposes the price, an assembly qualificatrice studies it and proposes the changes. The secretary of marketing receives and delivers the orders and coordinates the production. The production is the responsibility of the craftsmen who made the samples, unless it exceeds the output, in such a case they distribute to several of the craftsmen.
A commission of 2 people undertakes of the quality control and to deliver to the CIAP with the author of work.

Services and benefits that receive the partners

The principal benefit of the partners is the marketing of its products, although for the moment although what the CIAP is little, because this group was one of the last to pour some.
Other benefits which are the qualifications to which they reach by the means of association.
They also regard as a benefit the unit and the circle of friends whom they obtained by the means of association.

Activities and social projection

Sunday sporting events, the participation is obligatory and the alcohol consumption is prohibited, one of the partners is given the responsibility to prepare the meals and to sell with the others, the consumption of a portion is obligatory.
Internal and external qualification in technological subjects, production, marketing, costs, etc with the support of ONGs, universities, etc.
They take share with the fairs and the exposures to sell their products.
They carry out activities of mutual assistance between the partners.
Activities of fraternity for the day of the Mother, the day of the Father, carry out also a cake, contest and gifts for the children for reason for Christmas.
They take share with the table of dialogue of development of Lurin with the Municipality and other institutions, they also collaborate with the College Miguel Grau by sponsoring activities and by carrying out an exposure in this school centre.
